Cannabasics is an introductory series of self-directed learning modules that explores the basics of cannabis and its consumption.  This series is intended for public health professionals, regardless of your area of experience, to contribute to a basic foundation of knowledge and language regarding cannabis.

At the end of this learning series, learners will be able to:

  • Identify the basic components of the cannabis plant and cannabis derivatives as well as the primary chemical compounds and describe associated effects; 
  • Understand the primary ways that cannabis can be consumed to the extent that the learner can identify how each method works, the common tools used and can identify harm reduction considerations; and
  • Understand the primary reasons people may consume cannabis (and other substances), identify patterns of consumption as well as potential risks to the extent that the learner is better able to appreciate why a person may choose to consume cannabis.
